Astrigum Gum Paint is a combination of three drugs, Tannic acid, Zinc chloride, and Cetrimide used to treat gum problems. Tannic acid is an astringent (contracts body tissues) that works by precipitating the proteins that contract skin cells. Thus, it helps in healing and relieves irritation due to mouth ulcers. Zinc chloride is a hemostatic agent with astringent properties that stop bleeding and toughen the skin. Cetrimide belongs to the class of antiseptics that works by preventing the growth of fungi and bacteria that could infect broken skin in the mouth.
